I want to buy my home but my credit score is 446 so I have been referred to a credit repair agency for help. But because I have so many outstanding debts, some very old & some new, the estimated price for their service is $ 쀰. Yes, I have tried this process on my own but it takes too long, Should I just go ahead & pay for their service so I can buy my home?
Nope.
Credit repair is a scam. You cannot remove accurate information from your credit file. You can challenge incorrect information.
Here’s what credit repair companies promise: their computers will send automated challenges for every negative item on your file and if the credit bureaus do not respond within the appropriate time frame, those negative items have to come off by law.
Here’s why it fails: the credit bureaus have even better computers to respond to trivial automated complaints.
In the end, you wind up paying hundreds of dollars and get nothing in return.
If you have inaccurate items on your credit file, you can challenge those yourself for FREE.
No credit repair places is going to be able to repair your score by the 250 -300 points you need to get a mortgage UNLESS you were a victim of rampant identity theft. These credit repair places, ESPECIALLY, the ones who want money before they do anything are mostly scams. Not only will you STILL not be able to buy a house, but you will also be out $ 1200 if you give them a cent. You are asking for an act of God to happen and unfortunately there is no legit way to “repair” a score that bad in ANY quick amount of time. Don’t be a sucker and fall for that.
if you can afford $ 1,200 to a credit repair agency?
im thinking this $ 1,200 can go to the credit card company !!
what did you spend $ 1,200 on ??……shoes??
Don’t do it. That’s a HUGE scam.
Buying a home shouldn’t depend solely on your credit score, though I’m guessing you’ve got some bad marks on there if it’s so low. Spend the next year or two building good credit on your own. Yes, it takes a long time, but “credit repair” is a fancy term for “will steal your money and run.”
No. The smart thing to do is to use the $ 1200 to PAY OFF SOME OF YOUR DEBT. They can’t magically do anything you can’t do yourself.
If you are so damned lazy, send me your 1200.00, you will still be scammed and I’ll have 1200.00.
You were to lazy to pay your bills too!
Instead of paying the credit repair company, go to the bank and get twelve $ 100 bills. Then flush those bills down the toilet. You will at least get to watch the bills swirl down the drain, which is a lot more than the credit repair company will do.
With a 446 score, there is absolutely no way you will be able to fix your credit in less than 3 or 4 years. Not only will you have to negotiate settlement of all the outstanding debts, but you will have to establish current good payment history.
Put your hopes of buying a home on the back burner. You need to first learn some better financial management skills.
Don’t do it. Credit repair companies cannot do any more than what you’ve already been doing to fix your credit. Save your money and look for other ways to improve your rating yourself. You’ll do a better job of it than a credit repair company.

It’s so huge amount. It’s not a good sanes to spend it on credit repair company, even you can pay off some of your debt with this amount.
First, credit repair is NOT a scam. Yes, there are companies out there who would be more than willing to take your money and do nothing more than send computer generated letters to the bureaus. However, the FTC is cracking down on these companies, and all credit repair companies must now follow the CROA, the Credit Repair Organizations Act developed by the FTC to regulate these companies. Now tell me, if repairing your own credit is so damn easy, why would the FTC allow these companies to operate? What you want to look for in a credit repair company is one that offers a certified credit counselor to walk you through rebuilding your credit while working to remove the inaccuarate, negative information on your credit report. It is true that accurate information cannot be removed from your credit report, however, knowing the laws that are in place to assist and protect you, and fully understanding how credit works and what is factored into your score, as well as how to build properly, you can have a good credit score even if this negative information is reporting on your report. Ignore those who hurl insults at you simply for asking a question, obviously ignorant folks. Look for a legitimate credit company, it will take some digging, but they are out there. Best of luck to you!
